John Church of Just Marketing has been a sports marketer for more than 23 years. His brilliant career continues and is embodied in South Coast Partnerships Inc., the company he founded and is currently the president of. Prior to founding his company he held many different senior executive positions at various points in his life. All this to say that time, for him, was never something to be played with as he was and still is a very busy man. Despite this fact, he finds time to give back to the community, for causes close to his heart. He is involved with the Laguna Ocean Foundation project, which serves to protect the coastal preserve along Laguna Beach. He sees himself as a wildlife guardian, helping to protect wild animals in their natural habitat.
Destruction to wildlife and their habitats is not unique to Laguna Beach. In fact it is a problem that is spread right across America, and the world at large. Human activity has damaged many natural habitats, and Church sees this problem and does his part to change or save what he can. Here are a few reasons why protecting wildlife is so important:
· Biodiversity needs to be protected: Biodiversity is simply a fancy way of saying that there are lots of different animal and plant species. If biodiversity is not protected, then our ecosystem will be disrupted. Everything in the environment is a part of the food chain. When something happens to one link the rest of the chain is affected. Say for example a species of plant that a herbivore used to feed on is now extinct, that herbivore now lacks a food source and may begin to die out because it has no means by which to sustain itself. Then the carnivore that fed on the herbivore now lacks a food source and may begin to experience negative consequences as a result. The problems will continue along that vein, until the whole food chain is affected. To prevent this we protect our ecosystem’s biodiversity.
· Wildlife benefits humans: There are a lot of medicines used that are made from chemicals produced from animals. These medicines have been used to cure heart disease, among other illnesses. If the animals used for these purposes die out, then study will be impossible and humans will suffer as a result.
· Conservation of our natural habitat: Out planet is enriched by natural habitat conservation. Benefits to us are vast, one such being keeping watersheds intact which ensures clean, fresh water for our continued use.
John Church of Just Marketing appreciates the importance of wildlife preservation projects or foundations such as the one that he is a part of. This is why he chooses to volunteer in this manner. If everybody put in a fraction of the effort that Church puts in, our earth would be a much better place for it.
